The YDGA at the Sun Valley Open 2009
The Sun Valley Open in La Mesa was a an opportunity for us to present the YDGA vision and mission to our disc golf community. John Tomkins a sixteen year old phenom from Glendale CA, sponsored by the YDGA to participate in the event, won the advanced division! awesome! The kid has some skills! His fluid style and calm confidence give him a game way beyond his years and promise for a great future. Wesley was beaming having met John at the Visalia Tournament and offered to sponsor him at the Sun Valley. Both Wes and Brendan Sage, regional directors competed, as well as Executive Director Scott Leebrick whos’ Tee Bird won the closest to the pin competition. Carlo Pelg represented wearing our YDGA “T” during the final round, and then continued to excel as he won the skins competition with YDGA volunteer Patrick Paramore. Patrick’s eighteen foot putt on the sixth hole of sudden death won a thousand dollar skins prize. compliments to Dave Parnell, tournament director.
Carlo and Pat take $1000 in Skins Challange!!!
The 2009 Sun Valley Open in La Mesa, Ca. was a fun and eventful tournament. Carlo Pelg and Patrick Paramore teamed up to take down $1000.00 in the skins challenge, after five holes, all five teams were tied up. The first play-off hole Carlo hit a next to perfect drive setting up a 20 foot putt for Pat to knock down, which he did, capping it off with a leaping celebration. The YDGA sends out a special thanks to Carlo for his donation of discs and time he has spent helping the kids learn disc golf.
500 dollar grant approved!
The YDGA would like to thank all that were involved with the whole grant process. Especially Mark Wilson, Ron Tocki and Allstate. Mark and Ron have donated a lot of their time to the YDGA including technical web design and volunteering at clinicns. Thank you very much!
We plan to use the money to buy pins (baskets), discs, and other equipment much-needed to hold our clinics. Thank you again for stepping up and helping the Youth Disc Golf Association, Helping Kids Take Flight .
